Compress PDF without losing quality.
Three quality presets — Small (web, 150 dpi), Balanced (email, 200 dpi), High (print, 300 dpi). See the estimated output size before you click. First 10 free/mo, no signup; Pro at $5/mo for 200/mo, Premium for unlimited.
How it works
- Drop the PDF onto letsgoPDF.
- Pick the quality preset that matches where you'll use the file. We show the estimated output size for each before you commit.
- Click Compress. The compressed PDF downloads with the original size and the new size shown side-by-side.
Why letsgoPDF for compression
- Three quality tiers. Small, Balanced, High — pick once, see the size before processing.
- Metadata preserved. Title, author, keywords stay (with a one-click "strip metadata" toggle if you want them gone).
- No ads, no upsells. No "register for results" wall — file downloads as soon as it's ready.
- Office files too. Drop a Word/Excel/PPT and we convert + compress in one step (uses 2 conversions in your monthly cap).
Common questions
- Why do PDFs need compressing?
- PDFs from scanners or office exports often embed full-resolution images. Compression downsamples those images to web-friendly sizes, sometimes shrinking the PDF to 10-30% of its original.
- Will quality drop visibly?
- For email/web use (200 dpi or below), no — text stays sharp and images look fine on screens. For print use (300 dpi), pick the High preset to keep print-quality detail.
- Is compress free?
- Free for the first 10 server-side conversions per month (no signup). After that, Pro at $5/mo gives you 200/mo, Premium ($15/mo) is unlimited.
- Why isn't compress free like merge?
- Compress requires a server-side image processing pipeline (ConvertAPI in our case). Merge can run in the browser; compress can't, at least not at the same quality.
